3 GREAT OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DRIVE TO NEAR TEXARKANA, TX

One of our favorite things to do outdoors in the Texarkana area is hiking at Atlanta State Park at 927 Park Road 42. This park is open daily from 6 AM to 10 PM, and it offers miles of hiking trails to explore. Our favorite trail is the 1.2-mile White Oak Ridge Trail, which starts near the White Oak restroom and meanders by a beautiful overlook of Wilkins Creek Cove.

There are many other opportunities for outdoor recreation here, too. For instance, you can rent a kayak or canoe and paddle on Wright Patman Lake. There are two boat ramps that you can launch from, and there are massive flathead, channel, and blue catfish in the lake that you can catch. Other fish that live in this lake include:

• Largemouth bass
• Crappie
• Sunfish
• White bass

We also love fishing at Spring Lake Park at 4303 North Park Road. This 145-acre park is one of only three parks in this small city with a body of water that is stocked with fish. Every winter, the state parks and wildlife department stocks this spring-fed lake with rainbow trout, but there are currently catfish in the lake, too.

Additionally, this park is a great place to visit if you want your dog to enjoy the great outdoors safely. This park is home to the Kylee Sullivan-PetSafe Dog Park where your dog can stimulate their mind and body and make new friends. Other highlights of this park include:

• A multi-use trail
• An 18-hole disc golf course
• Swanger Sports Complex

Another outdoor activity you can enjoy in the area is picnicking at Bringle Lake Park East at 7500 Bringle Lake Road. This peaceful eight-acre park features 10 pavilions that are ideal for small family get-togethers. Other activities you can enjoy here include fishing from a floating fishing pier, watching your kids play on the playground, biking, and jogging.
